INESCAPABLE: BOOK ONE IN THE ROAD TO KINGDOM SERIES

Page-Turning Romantic Suspense Set Against the Backdrop of a Small Mennonite Town

Lizzie Engel is used to running away. At eighteen, she left her Mennonite hometown, her family, and her faith with plans never to return. Five years later, Lizzie finds she'll have to run again. False accusations at her job, a stalker, and a string of anonymous threatening letters have left her with no other options. This time, however, her escape is back to Kingdom, her hometown.

As Lizzie becomes reacquainted with Kingdom, she realizes she may not have left her Mennonite roots and her faith as firmly in the past as she thought. She draws on the support of Noah Housler, an old friend, as she hides out and attempts to plan her next steps.

When it becomes painfully clear that the danger has followed Lizzie to Kingdom, suspicions and tensions run high, and she no longer knows who to trust. With her life and the lives of those she loves at risk, Lizzie will have to run one last time--to a Father whose love is inescapable.

As Washington County's new sheriff begins questioning Kingdom residents, Callie and the rest of the town are appalled at the prospect of a killer among them. The very reason Kingdom exists is to protect the people from the temptations and dangers of the outside world, but all the town founders' attempts to plan ahead couldn't prevent a threat like this.

Unsettled at this unforeseen danger, Callie is concerned when it appears Levi knows more than he's telling. Desperate to find answers for herself, Callie never expected that she'd have to face some of her own past's skeletons.

As Callie and the residents of Kingdom fear this danger for which they never planned, they must learn anew that only God knows the future and their trust must always lie in Him.

COZY MYSTERY
IN THE DEAD OF WINTER: BOOK ONE IN THE IVY TOWERS MYSTERY SERIES
WORKING IN A BOOKSHOP CAN BE MURDER!

A sad errand brings Samantha “Ivy” Towers back to Winter Break, Kansas — the small town where she spent her summers as a child. She’s taken on the job of making funeral arrangements for her Aunt Bitty. Ivy has curly red hair, boundless curiosity, and a keen ability to spot “facts” that don’t make sense. Almost immediately, Ivy begins to suspect that Bitty’s death, caused by a fatal fall in her bookshop, wasn't accidental after all.

A missing book, a message scrawled by an unknown person, and an extra coffee cup leave Ivy with more questions than answers. And then, her childhood friend Amos Parker, now the sheriff of Winter Break, becomes surprisingly anxious to get Ivy out of town.

As Ivy uncovers the truth behind her aunt’s “accident,” she finally finds a place to call home and also rediscovers the young girl she tried to leave behind

“Nancy Mehl weaves her cozy spell so skillfully that I was enthralled from page one. Ivy Towers is an appealing heroine, Winter Break, Kansas the ideal location, and supporting characters lend depth to the delicious plot. Nancy Mehl's writing style is exceptional and her books highly recommended.” – Midwest Book Review

BYE-BYE BERTIE: BOOK TWO IN THE IVY TOWERS MYSTERY SERIES
Ivy searches for gold, but finds something more precious.

Ivy Towers is working hard to get Miss Bitty’s Bygone Bookstore on its feet in Winter Break, Kansas, when she discovers a map hidden inside an old music box. Could the map lead her to the “Lost Gambler’s Gold?” The legend of the ill-fated 1860s gambler had circulated among residents for as long as Ivy can remember. But when Ivy follows the directions to where X marks the spot, what she digs up uncovers a mystery that leads to more than she ever imagined. Lives will be changed, old secrets revealed, and Ivy will learn that lost treasure can sometimes turn out to be much more valuable than a chest full of gold.

“Bye Bye Bertie” is the second book in the Ivy Towers Mysteries, but it easily stands alone. Ivy has a penchant for getting into trouble without realizing it, so it was fun to go along with her on another mystery in this close community and to get to know Ivy and Amos a little bit more. — Laurel Johnson, “Midwest Book Review”

The connected storylines in “Bye Bye Bertie” are tied together nicely with characters who are truly benevolent to one another. All three mysteries lead readers to love, forgiveness, unconditional friendship, family, and romance. You’ll want to curl up on an overstuffed chair in front of the fireplace at Miss Bitty's Bygone Bookstore and spend the winter. — Laura Hilton, “The Suspense Zone.”

FOR WHOM THE WEDDING BELL TOLLS: BOOK THREE IN THE IVY TOWERS MYSTERY SERIES
Planning a wedding is stressful enough, but when the wedding planner is murdered, and the bride is a suspect, then stress reaches boiling point.

Ivy Towers is finally getting married! But before she can walk down the aisle she has to plan the wedding of her dreams. Doing that isn’t as easy as she dreams, especially since she is trying to run a rare bookstore, and help the town get a jump-start on a new library.

When new resident Delaphine Shackleford steps in and offers to be Ivy’s wedding planner. Seeing this as the answer to her prayers, Ivy accepts. But Delaphine’s ideas are so off the wall wacky that Ivy doesn’t know quite what to do.

Hiring Delaphine not only drives Ivy to the brink of madness, but it also plunges her into the middle of a bizarre murder mystery.

“Book 3 of the Ivy Towers series continues the saga with panache. Ivy Towers is a delightful, realistic character who has become my friend; Winter Break is so typically small town Kansas that I smile every time I read about its quirks and follies; the citizens of Winter Break are so appealing, with all their foibles and eccentricities, that I want to meet them; and… I desperately long to eat one of Ruby's Redbird Burgers. Nancy Mehl has done an exceptional job of bringing Ivy, Amos, Winter Break, and its citizens to vibrant life in this series. — Laurel Johnson, “Midwest Book Review”

I enjoyed the faith message in this book. It spoke truths that I really needed to hear as I read the book. I appreciate how God sometimes uses fiction to convey to the reader what He wants them to hear. I thoroughly enjoyed “For Whom the Wedding Bell Tolls” and the entire series. Don’t miss this cozy mysteries trio or this talented author. A recipe is included at the end. – Laura Hilton, “The Suspense Zone”

THERE GOES SANTA CLAUS: BOOK FOUR IN THE IVY TOWERS MYSTERY SERIES

What Was Santa Doing on Ivy’s Roof in the Middle of the Night?

It’s a few days before Christmas and Ivy and her new husband Amos are awakened by noises on their rooftop. Amos’s joke that Santa Claus must have arrived early quickly loses its humor when a man dressed as Santa goes flying past their second-story window and lands head first into the snow. He’s carrying a sack in which they find a Cabbage Patch Doll with a note addressed to “Ho Ho”. Who is “Ho Ho”, and why was Santa on their roof in the middle of the night?

“This is a sweet, hopeful, uplifting story, ideal for Christmas season reading—except for the murder, of course. Christmastime has come to Winter Break, complete with snow, sleet, holiday lights, and church activities. The newlyweds have been married ten months and Ivy is dreaming, wishing, and praying about having a baby to complete their happiness. Ivy’s Christmas preparations are complicated when a man dressed as Santa Claus falls off the roof and dies in a snowdrift on their front lawn. The truth unfolds slowly, and the clues revealed along the way are diabolically sneaky. Nancy Mehl sure knows how to weave a fine tale of intrigue to leave her readers guessing until the end! The final solution took me by complete surprise.” Laurel Johnson, “Midwest Book Review.”

MISSING MABLE: BOOK ONE IN THE CURL UP AND DYE SERIES

Hilde Higgins — One of the Best Hairstylists in Kansas — Can Recognize a Head of Hair… Even When Her Client is Dead!

Watch the tangled mess that Hilde gets herself into when she realizes that Mabel Winnemaker, her latest client at Druther’s Funeral Home, has gone missing. Hilde knows that the body she is asked to work on at the funeral home is not the same person as in her reference photo. Unhappily for Hilde, everyone else doubts that Mabel is missing.

The situation heats up hotter than Hilde’s curling iron — and forces her to answer some tough questions: Is she being silenced when the funeral director accuses her of stealing a diamond ring? Will Hilde Higgins’s former boyfriend help her unravel the issue — or only bring more trouble to her life? And most important of all, what happened to the real Mabel… and why?

“Hilde Higgins is an adorable eccentric, with maroon-and-black hair, a punkish wardrobe and a weird weakness for SPAM casseroles. Like all good mysteries, the solution to the body-switching proves us with a fine Ah, Ha! moment, but it’s Hilde’s goofily-good character that kept me grinning as I turned the pages.” — Betty Webb, “Mystery Scene.”

“Hilde is a quirky, funny character — and easy to love. While trying to solve the mystery of Mabel, she copes with real-life issues. Making new friends, dealing with a mom who isn’t happy with her career choice, and learning to fall in love. I recommend this story to anyone who is looking for a fun, easy read with Christian characters and a good mystery to solve.” — Heidi Walfoort, “Christian Book Nerd.”

BUMPING OFF BINKY: BOOK TWO IN THE CURL UP AND DYE MYSTERY SERIES
Wichita's Leading “Hairstylist to the Dead” is Back With a New Hair-Raising Mystery.

No one would call Hilde Higgins an “ordinary” hairstylist — not with her own purple-streaked locks, punkish clothing, weird love of SPAM salad sandwiches, and long list of soon-to-be-buried clients at funeral homes throughout Wichita, Kansas. To top the list of oddities off, Hilde has a rather unusual phobia — she has an unexplainable fear of clowns.

Hilde also has a knack for getting herself into unusual situations — like finding the clown-clad corpse of Harold “Binky” Tuttwiler in a cemetery. Binky — a local businessman who moonlights as a volunteer clown at the children’s hospital — had clearly been murdered. The police quickly zero-in on a prime suspect: Adam Sawyer, a handsome stockbroker who also dresses up as a clown to entertain sick kids. The very same Adam Sawyer who is Hilde’s new boyfriend.

Once again, Hilde is forced to switch from hairdressing to sleuthing, because only she can discover who really bumped-off Binky. Can Hilde solve the mystery before a Kansas twister blows all the evidence away?

“Hilde is a realistic heroine, a bookworm, who is thoughtful, caring, and sweet. I couldn't help but care for her as she struggled to prove Adam innocent before the police proved he was guilty. If you like to read cozy mysteries, you won't want to miss.” — Susan Sleeman, “The Suspense Zone.”"Bumping Off Binky" was previously published under the title "Blown Away."
